These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of studentnc.com (“StudentNC,” “we,” “us”), a classifieds and community platform for international students in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). By creating an account, posting a listing, or otherwise using the site, you agree to these Terms.
1. What StudentNC is
StudentNC is a platform that lets students and, in the case of Flats, verified real estate agencies, post and browse listings across four sections (Marketplace, Roommates, Flats, and Jobs), plus a Blog. Some job listings are shared from other public job sites (see section 7). StudentNC is not a party to any transaction, rental agreement, employment arrangement, or roommate arrangement made between users. We do not inspect, guarantee, endorse, or take responsibility for the accuracy of any listing, the condition of any item or property, the conduct of any user, or the outcome of any arrangement made through the site.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be able to form a binding contract to use StudentNC and must provide accurate information when registering, including a WhatsApp number you can be reached on. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Real estate agency status for posting Flats listings is granted at StudentNC’s discretion and may be revoked if misused. The “Verified Student” badge only confirms that you verified a university email address; it is not a guarantee of identity or conduct.
3. Your content and listings
When you post a listing (Marketplace, Roommates, Flats, or Jobs) or otherwise submit content, you confirm that:
- The information is accurate and not misleading (price, condition, location, job terms, etc.)
- You have the right to post it (e.g., you own the item, are authorized to list the property, or are authorized to post the job)
- It does not violate any applicable law or infringe anyone else’s rights
- It is not discriminatory, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, fraudulent, or otherwise inappropriate for a student community
You grant StudentNC a non-exclusive, worldwide license to display, reproduce, and distribute your listing content on the site (and, where relevant, in translated form) for the purpose of operating the platform. You may remove your listings at any time.
We count views of each listing and taps on its contact buttons anonymously, and we may show these statistics to the person who posted the listing and, for real estate agencies, include them in performance reports.
We may remove or unpublish any listing or content, or suspend or terminate any account, that we reasonably believe violates these Terms or applicable law, without prior notice.
4. Contacting other users
StudentNC has no in-site messaging. The contact buttons on a listing (WhatsApp, Request a viewing, Apply, Call, or email) open WhatsApp, your phone, or your email app, and any conversation then happens outside StudentNC. We do not see those conversations and are not responsible for them. Use of WhatsApp is subject to WhatsApp’s own terms. The phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers, and email addresses you add to a listing are shown publicly on that listing, so only add contact details you are happy to share.
5. Roommates
You are limited to one active Roommates listing at a time to keep listings genuine and reduce spam. You are solely responsible for verifying the identity and intentions of anyone you arrange to live with; StudentNC does not perform background checks.
6. Flats and real estate agencies
Only accounts approved by StudentNC as a “verified real estate agency” may post Flats listings. A “Verified agency” badge indicates that StudentNC has approved that account for posting purposes only. It is not a guarantee of the accuracy of any listing, the legitimacy of any lease, or the trustworthiness of the agency in a specific transaction. Renters should independently verify any property, agency, and lease terms before paying any money or signing any agreement.
7. Jobs
Employers posting on the Jobs section are responsible for complying with applicable labor law in the TRNC, including any student or part-time work regulations that apply. StudentNC does not vet employers or verify job terms, and is not a party to any employment relationship formed through the site. Applications are sent directly to the employer; StudentNC does not receive or store them. A legitimate employer will never ask you to pay a fee, deposit, or “training cost” to be hired.
Jobs shared from other sites: some job listings are shared from other public job sites, such as İş Kıbrıs, so students can find them in one place. These listings are marked with a note that links to the original posting. Their content and contact details come from the employer’s original posting; we may shorten or translate the job title. We do not check these listings, and the rights in their content remain with the employer or the original publisher. If one of these listings belongs to your company, you can ask us to remove or update it using our removal request form, and we will act on it once we have confirmed the request.
8. Prohibited conduct
You agree not to: post false or fraudulent listings; harass, discriminate against, or threaten other users; use contact details shown on listings for spam, marketing, or any purpose other than the listing itself; attempt to circumvent account limits (e.g., creating multiple accounts to bypass the one-Roommates-listing rule); scrape or systematically extract site data; interfere with listing statistics (for example, by generating fake views or contact taps); upload malware or attempt to compromise site security; or use the platform for any unlawful purpose.
9. Fees
Posting on StudentNC is currently free for students and job-posting businesses. We may introduce fees for certain features in the future; if we do, we will clearly disclose them before you are charged.
10. Disclaimers
StudentNC is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any listing (including listings shared from other sites) is accurate, safe, or legitimate. Listing statistics are provided for information only and may not be exact. Any transaction, tenancy, employment, or roommate arrangement you enter into with another user is solely between you and that user, at your own risk.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, StudentNC and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of money, property, or opportunity arising from your use of the site, any listing, or any interaction with another user, including but not limited to scams, misrepresented listings, or disputes between users.
12. Termination
You may stop using StudentNC and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, misuse the platform, or for any other reason at our reasonable discretion, with or without notice.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of StudentNC after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory local consumer-protection law provides otherwise.
